About Us

ArtHelsinki is an international fair for contemporary art.

ArtHelsinki International Contemporary Art Event will be held in September 7-11, 2016 at the Messukeskus Expo and Convention Center in Helsinki, in connection with the Habitare Furniture, Interior and Design Fair.

Curated under the direction of Aura Seikkula, ArtHelsinki will present an event showcasing a variety of commercial galleries and non-profit initiatives accompanied with a socially engaging, discursive and performative programming.

ArtHelsinki has invited Moving Image co-founders and directors Murat Orozobekov and Edward Winkleman to curate a special video and film program showcasing works from the ArtHelsinki participants. All participating galleries and initiatives are eligible to apply to the Moving Image video program, which will be conducted entirely by Orozobekov and Winkleman.

ArtHelsinki continues to evolve as a hub for introducing the enticing art scene of Helsinki at large, outside its facilities. For creating an engaging process towards its 2016 edition, ArtHelsinki organizes a series of events both in Finland and abroad. The ArtHelsinki Events program series is conducted in collaboration with Frame Contemporary Art Finland.

The programme of the ArtHelsinki contemporary art event 2016 has been announced.

ArtHelsinki’s international programme for professionals will, through its themes, explore the art market of the future, the digitisation of art, and the interaction between the commercial and non-commercial art worlds. The programme, to be held in English in the ArtHelsinki area, will feature well-known Finnish and international experts in the field of art – Alistair Hicks, Nina Colosi, Raija Koli, Arja Miller, Mari Männistö, Adriano Picinati di Torcello.

ArtHelsinki’s programme for all audiences has been produced in collaboration with the Artists’ Association of Finland, Artap by Helsinki Contemporary, and EMMA – the Espoo Museum of Modern Art. The ArtHelsinki programme will be a visible part of the programme staged in the ahead! arena at the Habitare interior decoration and design fair.
